The Los Osos Fire Safe Townhall held on Saturday, August 3rd, at Sunny Side School was a tremendous success. We were thrilled to see so many community members come together to prioritize fire safety and preparedness.

Los Osos Community Service District Weed Abatement Ordinance 2023-01: The latest regulations from January 2023 were discussed, providing clarity on how they impact our community.
Special Fire Tax Ordinance 2005-01/LOCSD Resolution 2023-26: Attendees gained a deeper understanding of how these ordinances fund fire safety initiatives.
Defensible Space/Weed Abatement: Practical tips were shared on creating defensible space to minimize fire risk around homes.
Home Hardening: Experts offered valuable advice on how to make homes more fire-resistant.
Evacuation Preparedness & Shelter in Place: Participants learned essential steps to prepare for evacuation and when to safely shelter in place during emergencies.
Safe Zone/Genasys Protect: The benefits of these safety systems were explored, enhancing community protection during wildfires.
SimTable Demo – Two Ignition Points: A live demonstration showed fire behavior modeling, helping residents understand fire spread dynamics.
Reverse 911 & Evacuation Process: Detailed explanations were given about the reverse 911 system, who initiates evacuations, and the steps involved.
