Cambria Students Help Spread Wildfire Safety Through Poster Contest

“One Less Spark, One Less Fire” – Local Students Promote Wildfire Prevention

The San Luis Obispo County Fire Safe Council’s Cambria Focus Group, in partnership with the Coast Union High School Art Program, recently organized a wildfire prevention poster contest to encourage fire safety awareness throughout the Cambria community.

The contest challenged local high school art students to create original posters inspired by the theme “One Less Spark, One Less Fire.” The goal was to encourage creativity while educating residents and visitors about the importance of preventing wildfires and protecting the community.

Students enthusiastically participated, submitting 26 original poster designs, each offering a unique interpretation of wildfire prevention and the importance of individual responsibility in reducing fire risks.

From these 26 entries, five winning posters were selected for their creativity, visual impact, and ability to communicate the wildfire prevention message.

5 Winning Entries

Turning Student Artwork Into Community Awareness

The five winning designs will be transformed into large 4-foot by 8-foot signs and displayed at locations throughout Cambria. These signs will serve as visible reminders to residents and visitors that even one small spark can lead to a devastating wildfire.

By displaying student artwork throughout town, the project brings wildfire prevention messaging directly into the community while recognizing the talent and contributions of local youth.

A Community Working Together for Fire Safety

This project highlights the importance of collaboration between the Fire Safe Council, local schools, and community volunteers in promoting wildfire resilience.

The Cambria Focus Group extends its appreciation to the Coast Union High School Art Program, participating students, and everyone who helped make the contest a success.

Congratulations to the five winning artists and all 26 participants! Your creativity and commitment to wildfire prevention are helping make Cambria a more fire-safe community.

Remember: One Less Spark, One Less Fire!
