Defensible Space Assessor Training – March 24 & 25 in Paso Robles
The San Luis Obispo County Fire Safe Council, in partnership with CAL FIRE, is hosting a two-day Defensible Space Assessor (DSA) Training for individuals and organizations seeking to become Qualified Entities (QE) and support local wildfire-mitigation efforts.

About the Training
This CAL FIRE course provides the skills needed to conduct defensible space assessments, understand PRC 4291 requirements, identify home-hardening opportunities, and communicate recommendations to residents. The class includes both classroom instruction and outdoor demonstrations.
Who Should Attend
Ideal for Fire Safe Council members, Firewise leaders, local government staff, inspectors, contractors, consultants, HOA teams, and anyone working in wildfire preparedness or home-hardening outreach. No firefighting experience required.
Why It Matters
With wildfire risk increasing across the Central Coast, communities need trained assessors who can help homeowners reduce hazards and improve resilience. Completing this course qualifies participants to operate as a CAL FIRE-recognized Qualified Entity.
