Cambria – New Engine

A Proud Day for Cambria: Federal Funding Secured for New Type I Fire Engine

On August 6, 2026, community leaders gathered at the Cambria Fire Department for a special press conference with U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta to celebrate an important investment in Cambria’s public safety.

The event announced federal funding secured for the Cambria Community Services District Fire Department’s new Type I fire engine — an ME5791 Next Generation Service 2027 Pierce Enforcer.

This new engine will be an important addition to Cambria Fire’s emergency response capabilities, helping firefighters protect residents, businesses, visitors, and the surrounding community.

A huge thank you and shout-out goes to everyone who worked diligently to make this funding possible. Securing funding for critical fire and emergency response equipment takes persistence, cooperation, and strong partnerships at the local and federal levels.

Representative Jimmy Panetta played an important role in helping secure this federal funding, and we greatly appreciate his support of Cambria and our local firefighters.

During the press conference, Representative Panetta, CCSD General Manager Matthew McElhenie, and Fire Chief Michael Burkey each delivered meaningful remarks about the importance of the new engine and what this investment means for the community.

For those of us committed to wildfire preparedness, emergency response, and community safety, it was an especially proud moment.

Congratulations to the Cambria Community Services District Fire Department and everyone who helped make this new Type I fire engine a reality.

Investments like this strengthen our fire service, support our firefighters, and help build a safer and more resilient Cambria.
