Clearing flammable vegetation just got easier and more effective. Thanks to the Fire Safe Council of San Luis Obispo County and local partners, residents of Cambria, Los Osos, and See & Davis Canyon are now eligible for free curbside chipping services this summer.

Chipper Day by FireAside is an all-in-one online platform that allows homeowners to:

- Cambria CSD Event: Sign up Deadline: July 12th, 2025, Chipping Starts July 14th, 2025
- See & Davis Canyon, Avila: Sign up Deadline: July 19th, 2025: Chipping Begins: July 21st, 2025
- Los Osos: Sign up Deadline: July 26th, 2025: Chipping Begins: July 28th, 2025
- Crews will be working throughout the week. No specific appointment times—just be ready!
🌿 Chipping Guidelines
Pile Size & Shape
- One pile per reservation
- Max size: 20’ long x 4’ wide x 4’ high
- Must be stacked linearly — no tangled or beehive piles
What’s Allowed
✅ Tree branches, shrubs, and brush
✅ Branches under 8 inches in diameter
❌ No lumber, root balls, palm fronds, yucca, or poison oak
Pile Placement
- Within 5 feet of a roadway
- Must be on firm, accessible ground
- Do not block roads, driveways, sidewalks, or fire hydrants
Prep Tips
- Stack with cut ends facing the street
- No bags, ties, or containers
- Have your pile ready by 8:00 AM
- You do not need to be home
