A Community Focused on Preparedness

Wildfire risk continues to be a reality across San Luis Obispo County, especially in communities like Oak Shores that sit within high fire hazard areas. Events like this are critical to ensuring residents understand not only the risks, but also the actions they can take today to better protect their homes, families, and neighbors.

This year’s agenda builds on last year’s success and brings together a strong lineup of local experts and agencies.

Why This Event Matters

Preparedness is not something that happens during an emergency, it happens long before it.

Events like this help bridge the gap between planning and action by giving residents clear, actionable steps they can take immediately. Whether it is improving defensible space, understanding evacuation timing, or simply knowing where to go and how to get there, every piece of information shared can make a difference.

In communities with limited ingress and egress, like Oak Shores, early awareness and coordinated action are critical. The more prepared each household is, the stronger and safer the entire community becomes.
